Hi Carol: Thanks for dropping by my blog.....I'm glad it introduced me to you and your wonderful work! As for the oil pastels, I don't sharpen them, but will often break them so that I have a sharp edge to work with. I also have rubber tipped blenders (don't know the official name of them) which are invaluable for pushing the pastel around and making sharp edges. I use oil pencils for some of the lines. It also helps to use a good surface, such as Colourfix, which is excellent for oil pastels!
