I had a lot of fun painting these sardines. I love the metallic look of fish and tried to capture that, as well as the shine of the can. I was surprised when I opened the can, though: I have never eaten sardines, and thought that the heads would be on them!

I forgot to take a photo of the initial block-in, I did it in burnt sienna with a little ultramarine blue. This is the first "real" color layer.
