Mirrored Glass

I have painted the first pass of color on the painting now. I usually try to go from broad strokes and large swaths of color to subsequently smaller and more detailed layers.

Mirrored Glass

This is a larger painting that I've started, it's 24" x 28". I really like doing larger paintings as opposed to the smaller ones with a single subject, composition and pattern is important to me and it's hard to convey that in a very small painting.
I spent a lot of time photographing the objects and rearranging them in the computer to come up with a composition that I liked. Sometimes I use photographs for composition and sometimes I do thumbnail and small sketches in my sketchbook to work out the composition.

Squash Painting

Here is the finished painting. I'm pretty happy with it, though the lower right squash still bugs me a little. I want to wait for it to dry before I put it up for sale.
